Your guest guide

Save this page for your event. Share it with whoever is holding the camcorder or watching the Camera Bowl.

Please power everything on the day the kit arrives and film a quick test clip. Something weird? Email us before the event.

How to use the camcorder

You don't need experience. If it powers on and the red button starts a recording, you're doing it right.

Open the side screen, press MODE until you're on movie mode (film icon), then press the red START/STOP button once to start and again to stop.

Short clips are better than one endless file. Think 20 to 60 seconds at a time. The W / T lever zooms: W shows more of the room, T gets closer. Walking closer usually looks better than hard zoom.

Retro pink cams are late-2010s Full HD with a warm, soft camcorder look (not VHS grain). Light wear is normal. The onboard mic can hum or pick up the room. Modern black HD from the 2020s stays crisper with clearer built-in sound.

Keep the strap on. Rest the camera on a table for steady toasts. If you booked an external mic, use it for vows and speeches.

  • Charge overnight before the event
  • Use the printed how-to card in the box as a backup
  • Record in short clips rather than one long take
  • Expect era audio character on the retro built-in mic

Video shot list

Hand the list to a bridesmaid, friend, or cousin. Guests love having prompts.

  • Guests arriving and hugging the host
  • Getting ready moments
  • Ceremony or main event highlights
  • Toasts and reactions
  • Dance floor and candid party clips
  • A group message for the couple or guest of honor

How to use the vintage Y2K digitals

If your kit includes a Camera Bowl, leave the cameras on a guest table. Signs in the box explain they are for fun stills, not phone replacements.

These digitals are from the 2000s. Wear and tear on the body is normal. Every camera is tested before it ships.

  • Turn on, wait for the flash, shoot
  • Pass the camera after a few photos
  • One camera may be yours to keep (noted in your packing list)

Photo shot list

Ideas for reception stills.

  • Candid guest reactions
  • Table details and decor
  • Group photos guests take of each other
  • Dance floor moments
  • A selfie-style message for the host

Returning your rental

After the event, pack everything back in the box. Use the prepaid label included in your kit.

Drop at USPS. You do not pay return shipping.

We start editing when the kit is on its way back. You will receive edited video and raw files.
