FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything about booking, shipping, and filming. If your question isn't here, email us and we'll answer it directly.

How do I book?

Book Now: choose Retro Camcorder, Modern Camcorder, Deluxe Camcorders, or Camera Bowl (5), then continue to Shopify to pick open dates on that kit’s calendar and pay. Order confirmation and tracking emails come from Shopify. You can also email us at hello@pinkdigitalave.com.

When does the camcorder arrive?

We ship so it arrives about 3 days before your event. Every kit is tested before it leaves us, and we strongly encourage a quick test at home too.

Do I need filming experience?

No. Point and shoot. We include how-to instructions and a video/photo shot list so anyone can capture great moments.

What’s the difference between retro and modern?

Retro is a manufactured pink Panasonic Full HD from the late 2010s (W580 / W590 era). Warm, slightly soft camcorder character: nostalgic next to phones, but not ultra-grainy SD. They may show wear and the onboard mic can hum or pick up room noise. Modern is a black HD camcorder from the 2020s for crisper, true-to-life footage. For vows or toasts on a retro cam, add an external mic.

Will the retro and vintage gear look and sound perfect?

No, and that is part of the point. Retro cams are late-2010s Full HD (not brand-new), and vintage Y2K digitals are from the 2000s. They are tested and ready to shoot, but expect light wear and tear, softer camcorder-style footage than a 2020s cam, and onboard mics that are not studio quality and may hum. If you want the crispest HD and clearer built-in sound, choose Modern. If you want clearer speeches on a retro cam, add an external mic.

Are the pink cameras factory pink?

Yes. Our pink Panasonic retro camcorders are original manufacturer pink from Japan, not painted. Modern stays black HD from the 2020s.

Are the digital cameras new?

No. Every digital we rent is a vintage Y2K point-and-shoot from the 2000s, including Camera Bowl and add-on digitals. They’re tested and ready to shoot. Wear and tear on the body is normal and part of the look.

What’s in the Camera Bowl?

Pink vintage Y2K digital point-and-shoots from the 2000s for reception stills. Camera Bowl (5) can be booked on its own if you just want photos. Camera Bowl (3) is a smaller add-on that only pairs with a camcorder package. Guests snap stills and the bridal party keeps one. Wear and tear on the body is normal.

Do I get edited footage back?

Yes. After you ship the gear back, we edit your videos and share both the edited cut and the raw footage.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking 4 to 6 weeks out, especially for peak season. Last-minute bookings are sometimes possible. Reach out and we’ll check.
